  some ex-jws feel strongly we should all be "out of the closet" so we can present real faces to the public on the issue of cult dangers.

  to those folks i say, more power to you, all the best.. for my own life i have a different approach.. compartmentalizing is healthy for me.

  Some days I feel like shouting from the rooftops, and some days I prefer to just forget I was ever part of the borg. I live in a very small town, so I figure that most people I meet either already know I used to be a witness, or it will come out eventually anyway.

  Now is the pefect time to stop attending meetings, and stop worrying about what they think of you. Sieze this opportunity to build a new, good life for yourself. I haven't been to a meeting since early November 2011, and I couldn't be happier!

  Kids on Leashes at Conventions.

  did you ever see those parents with kids on leashes at conventions?

  i always disliked it and thought it was wierd/lazy...granted i have never been a parent so maybe i dont know.

  video reminded me how silly/messed up those leashes are.. .

  my mother got a can full of my behavior once when i was little, and she marched me into the pet store at the mall and bought a big old dog collar and leash. she buckled that collar around my waist and hooked me up - cured me of running off. i used the special kid leashes on my boys occasionally when they were not behaving properly. my middle son especially would just take off the second i was distracted. he spent more time on the leash than the other two ever did.

  How an original STAR TREK episode nearly cost me my first JW marriage in its first year...true story I find funny/sad

  so i'm 21, just married, and raised in my fathers image and thank god he liked sci-fi...a genre i was able to escape to new worlds in.

  he even took me to a trekkie covention when i was albout 12 at the greensboro coliseum and it was packed.

  we had watched every episode over and over...i thought.

  Just ROn and I used to watch TNG, DS9, and STV religiously. We made plans around when those shows would be on. We are still big trekkie fans

  don't count on too much mercy my fine featherd friends,,,hehehe,,,lol...!after your reinstated,it will take 20 to 30 years before the dubs start to forget your sorted past.....and you all know this right?so why bother crawling back with you little tail between your legs,so a bunch of glorious elders can save face before the rank and file?no one should be df okay,as this was not the teachings of jesus,only paul who wrote this stuff,but could some wacko in the last 2000 years have inserted this satanic practice into the scriptures to control the masses and manipulate them?the apostle paul wrote too many contradictions in his writings,so why trust in anything that he wrote about?why trust the gb in hq/nyc as to their writings in these past 130 years,since everything that they wrote about is all lies,,,hehehe lol...!who is going to disfellowship them in the hq department for being liars?maybe jehovah will do it in his own due time?.

  I know of a brother who claimed to have been DF'd when he was young. I was never aware of him being snubbed - he was an MS until his son got arrested for stealing cars and robbing a liquor store. He and his family were always invited to parties and people attended the parties he threw. It probably just depends on the local congregation.

  as someone who has recently awoken to the truth about the truth, this book blew my mind.

  the parallels with the watchtower society are quite astounding.

  Just Ron put on a good show for many years - he even had me convinced that he wanted to be a dub. Really though, I thought I wanted him to want to be a dub, so I just overlooked all the clues that he wasn't really into it. He faked it all that time just to keep his family together. I wish I hadn't been so stupid, we could have had so much more fun if we had dumped the dubs way back then.

  one of our most dogmatic, authoritarian elders at the congregation i used to attend made this comment.. .

  the wts has beat the drum of absolute authority so long and hard that the idea of free will, or even the notion of a god who might take in to consideration the wants, likes, and desires of his own people has been strangled out of the jw psychology.. .

  in one of his talks, brother that's final informed the congregation that it is pointless for us to engage in speculation about how our lives will be in the new system.

  sounds a lot like what i was told when i accepted my current job. i have to get permission to move outside the county i currently live in. don't think i want to spend eternity subject to that sort of control.
